It’s a Wrap!

No worries, just waves. No stress, just sand. No noise, just the ocean singing. The voice of the sea speaks to my soul. We know there is a lot going on, a lot to unravel, a lot to process but for now the sound of the waves wash away the sounds of the world!

We are back at the beach for the last few days of our epic vacation after spending three days in the magical mystical and at times misty Monteverde mountains. This cloud forest is the jewel of Costa Rica with its exceptional biodiversity. If you’ve ever wanted to feel like you’re in the middle of a Jurassic Park movie, I think a visit to Monteverde Cloud Forest is a must. It’s one of our favourite places in CR!

This unique ecosystem is one of the top nature reserves as it’s home to some of the most exotic plants and animals on the planet, including ocelots, jaguars, and pumas – non of which honoured us by greeting us on the trails! We were lucky to see the Resplendent Quetzals, the emerald treasures of the cloud forest. The translucent feathers of these beautiful birds shimmer from one shade to another, blending almost magically with the wet green background of the forest of their constantly misty high altitude homes.

According to the Tropical Science Center (TSC) of Costa Rica, Monteverde Cloud Forest is home to half of the country’s flora and fauna, which is saying something since Costa Rica is famous for its biodiversity.  

This is a country of contrasts especially in diverse landscapes and temperatures. When we left the mountains it was a chilly 16C and when we arrived at the beach it was 38! It is a hot, dry and somewhat oppressive heat after the cool dampness in the cloud forest.

We are winding down our time in Costa Rica, adding more laugh lines while getting more tan lines! The suitcases are out and I have started packing into them, already making a list for next year while visualizing our next adventure… my brain is busy feeling alive!

Our winter away has been an inspiring opportunity for growth and self-discovery. We have embraced our experiences, both the good and the challenging.

By embracing these experiences, cherishing our relationships, and living with purpose and gratitude, we have created a fulfilling and inspiring life for ourselves. We have added many memories to the memory bank, and have made new friends. We have cherished our time with family and loved ones, in person and virtually, sharing our travel with some of the most important people we have our life who provide us with support, love, and a sense of belonging and our reason to return home.

Travel is a precious gift and we strive to make the most of every moment, just as we strive to live our best life with purpose, passion, and gratitude. It is something beautiful, unpredictable and extraordinary!

We are counting the days til our return!
